1,5-EDANS (λex/λem: 335/493nm in DMSO) is a fluorescent reagent with a terminal amine for derivatization. It is one of the most popular donors for developing FRET-based nucleic acid probes and protease substrates. EDANS is often paired with DABCYL or DABSYL in FRET-based probes. 1,5-EDANS has similar spectral properties to the naphthalenesulfonic acids. Its fluorescence is environment-sensitive. References 1.
